Digital printing refers to any process printing directly from digital file to paper in one pass using the four CMYK colours. This includes commercial printers, the home printer and colour laser printers. Each method can produce a range of colours.).

Paul DeSantis, Director of Information Technology, explains that "the Indigo TurboStream works directly from PostScript files, translating the digital image from computer to printed piece with no intervening need for film or printing plates."Like conventional offset printing, Digital Offset Color printing transfers a liquid ink image from the imaging surface to a printing blanket, and from the blanket to paper. However, unlike conventional offset printing, Digital Offset Color printing creates a new ink image with each impression, and due to a proprietary electrostatic technology, it leaves no residual ink on the blanket.Unlike the toners used in other digital presses, the Indigo press provides a density and richness of color comparable to offset print.Mr. DeSantis adds, "our digital press accommodates up to six colors (four-color process plus two 'spot' colors) and will print on a wide variety of substrates.
